3 Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. 5 Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. 6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 7 Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. 2 Timothy 2:3-7
Leadership is a thinking role, not a manual role. Leaders must be engaged in a lot of thinking in order to be effective and successful. But thinking begins with yourself. In other words, the leader’s attitudes determines his or her altitude. You must become self-aware of what you’re thinking and how you’re thinking regarding your life and ministry as a leader. This is the key to your success. How should you think?
- You must be focused on your life calling (vv.3-4).
- You must be disciplined in your lifestyle and activities (v.5).
- You must be steadfast until you reach your goals (v.6).
