The Highest Value of All
Text: Philippians 3:1-11
Thoughts:
Everyone is pursuing something or someone. It’s what defines our lives. Without any kind of pursuit or dream, our lives will be meaningless. We pour our energies on something or someone because we believe it is of value. The saddest realization of all is to realize one day that we have pursued the wrong thing or the wrong person. Often it’s just too late. Years have passed and time have been wasted. Isn’t it wiser to think about your pursuit before you actually pursue it? Or if you’re already pursuing something, would it hurt if you try to examine it as honestly as you can by asking, “Is it really worth it?” By “it” you mean “your life.” Jesus said, “What profits a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?” So, is it really worth it to pour out your life — all your time, talents and treasure — on this one thing or person? Of course, there are many things to enjoy in this life. But are they worth your life? Think about it. Learn to pursue the One who is truly the highest value of all. Knowing Him (Jesus) is worth all your life. It’s time to pursue Him.
