Will Jesus heal me? (Part 2 of Healing series for May 2021)
Summary
What matters most when we are — or someone else we care about is — sick or dying? Obviously, the answer is healing. What matters most when our mortality is being threatened is to find deliverance from whatever it is that is threatening us! We want to be healed at whatever the cost. We will look for ways and means to find our healing. We will try anything or go see anyone. Nothing will stop us. This is only natural since health is so important to us. But is it the most important thing really?
The Story of Two Healings
- Mark 5:21-24a
- We know Jesus heals people. “But will Jesus heal me?” This is the question that is most important to us.
- Sickness and death make us all feel vulnerable and weak.
- They also reveal what is most important to us.
- What matters most when there is sickness or the threat of death is healing. That’s why we have a saying, “Health is wealth.”
- It’s also the reason why we become bitter toward God.
- But is our healing the most important matter?
- Here is the truth from this story: Trust in Jesus matters most regardless of what happens. (Mark 5:24b-43; compare Daniel 3:16-18)
- Let us draw near to Jesus in times of sickness, expecting to be healed. But whatever happens, let’s continue trusting in Jesus.
