Trust in God’s Power
29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. (Colossians 1:29)
Just because you want to do a good thing does not mean that you can actually do it. Not all intentions are translated into actions. Mere desire will not do it. You need power to execute it.
There are four sources of power: you, others, Satan and God.
You have some amount of power. Your body can do certain things. Depending on your age and health, you can accomplish some things on your own without the need of anyone. Your mind has power, too. You can focus and come up with some creative ideas. You can control your emotions to a certain degree. You can make yourself feel certain things, if your mind is strong. You can also use your will power to choose or prefer something. But all your power is limited. You can only do so much on your own.
Now others can help you. They can use their power to encourage you, support you, affirm you, etc. Together with others, you can accomplish certain things. But just like you, their power is also limited. They can only do so much.
Satan has power, too. He has the power to destroy you. He uses the world’s system to lure you to obey his will. If you obey his will, he will steal, kill and destroy you together with everyone related to you. Once you allow sin to enter your life, Satan will have a foothold in your life and then he will enslave you. So don’t have anything to do with him.
Where else can you go? There is only one source of power that is infinite and unlimited. Only God has the power to defeat sin, Satan, and the world, so that you can be free to love and serve Him. He alone has the power beyond your power or anyone else’s power to transform everything in your life from darkness to light. Go to Him. Stay with Him. Depend on Him for everything. Trust in His power. Start today. Shalom! (PB)
