Practicing the Presence of God
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
Practicing the presence of God is the key to becoming fruitful. God alone can give purpose and meaning in our lives through His word and by His Spirit. Our own efforts will fail, if we are only relying on ourselves. This is why we need to honor God with our lifestyle, maintaining the right rhythm so that we can engage with God anytime He desires to reveal anything that can help us to become more effective and fruitful.
The right attitude (joy) with a prayerful lifestyle (praying continually) will result in a thankful heart, which should be our goal each day. God wants us to live differently as His children, maintaining a right relationship with Him at all times. There will always be two kinds of situations in our lives: casual experiences and crucial experiences. It is in the latter that we must be ready to enter into. The former prepares us for it. If we take care of the casual experiences – rejoicing always, praying continually, and thanking God on a day to day basis — we will be ready for the crucial moments of our lives — the trials, the testings and the temptations that will surely come. So develop a healthy rhythm. Practice a God-focused lifestyle. Stay in tuned with God, attending to your daily communion with Him. Shalom! (PB)
