Feel Safe… Finally
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-30
Life is full of challenges… and disappointments. So much is out of your control, and you know it. This creates insecurity and anxiety. I guess that’s the reason why modern life is so full of stress. Just look around and see all the different massage parlors that are popping up everywhere. People are stressed out! More importantly, people are afraid. They are afraid of tomorrow. Bad news lurk behind the shadows and everyone is terrified. We do our best to control things, to make things work out. Eventually, they don’t. We curse fate or someone out there who should be responsible. In desperation, we resort to diversions. Let’s not think about it. Let’s pretend everything is alright. But you know it’s not, because the fear remains. “What if…,” you ask yourself. You look around and you realize that all your “blessings” can just disappear in a twinkling of an eye. “Can someone please tell me how to make this work?” “How can I have peace and security in my life?” “Why am I constantly afraid?” “Who is controlling this universe?” “Where can I find real safety?” People ask these questions because they see life with its twists and turns, and no one really knows when calamities will strike. But two thousand years ago a man named Jesus came and uttered the words recorded by the apostle John above. This man promised to give eternal life (or the God-kind of life) to anyone who will believe in Him. He said they will not perish, in the sense that they will not experience what all lost people experience — death and suffering in the here and now, and then eventually destruction and separation from God forever (eternal death) in the future. He also promised security for these people who will believe in Him. They will always be assured of His love and care forever. No one can snatch them because the God of the universe will keep them safe. In other words, people will find true peace and safety… finally, through faith in Him. What is interesting in this statement is that Jesus makes Himself equal with God. He said, “I and the Father are one.” Therefore, if you will trust in Jesus, who is more than just a mere man — He is God in the flesh — then you will experience true salvation through Him, and you will find security for the rest of your life. Get to know the good news about Jesus now. In Him you will feel safe… finally.
