What is an “Open Door”?
Introduction
Christians are unaware of what is available to them because of Christ. Consequently, they miss the opportunities that God makes available for them if they will trust in Him. They waste their time and resources dabbling in worldly pursuits or false attachments. Many settle for mediocrity in their Christian lives instead of experiencing the glory of God. What they need is a deep understanding of the concept of “Open Door.” What is an “Open Door”?
Three Access Points
- It gives us access to the presence of Christ (Revelation 3:7-9). The world may reject us. People may think that we are not powerful enough to be taken seriously. For sure, we are not like those in the world who have a lot of strength. But Christ gives us access to His presence that no one can hinder or shut. He wants to manifest His love for us so that the world may see that we are God’s people. An “Open Door” is an opportunity for the presence of Christ to be displayed in our lives.
- It gives us access to the purpose of God (Colossians 1:15-20). God is reconciling the world to Himself by means of Christ. Since we belong to Him, God has given us access to His purpose by becoming His representatives in the world. We can glorify Him through the “Open Doors” that He grants us by His grace. When we discern such “Open Doors,” and enter by faith, His name is glorified and His purpose is fulfilled.
- It gives us access to the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:15-21). We have the opportunity to live wisely by being filled with the Holy Spirit. His power gives us opportunities even in the midst of all the evil in the world. Through our worship of Him, as we show an attitude of gratitude regardless of the situation, and by being humble and submissive toward one another out of reverence for Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit ushers us into new opportunities to show forth His glory.
