Uniquely Broken and Restored Together
Introduction
People think and believe by default that their past hurts and pains that resulted in their brokenness are a source of regret, waste, sadness, feeling inferior, less important, and unworthy to be an active part of His church. On the other hand, active members or leaders sometimes see broken people as a liability and an unwanted burden in the church. All Bible characters have their own brokenness story. But God still chose to use them. God’s will for us to allow Him to heal and restore in our brokenness journey. In Christ, we were put together as a church of broken people to journey together by His grace. But how does God use our brokenness journey for His purpose and plans?
Three Important Ways
- Your brokenness journey formed your personality. (Psalm 139:13-16; Ephesians 2:8-10) God knows your true identity because He created you. You are meant to glorify Him according to who you are. He is also sovereign in how you developed as a person. Nothing happened by accident. By God’s grace, you are who you are. Therefore, you can give thanks to Him and trust Him as He works in you to make you the kind of person He wants you to be.
- Your brokenness journey empowered your testimony. (1 Timothy 1:12-14) All that has happened to you — the good, the bad, and the ugly — are all part of your testimony, and God is able to use all of them for His glory. Nothing and no experience will be wasted. Therefore, you can glorify God and give thanks to Him in everything, for He continues to work out everything even now and ultimately for your good and the good of His people.
- Your brokenness journey deepened your love and maturity. (Ephesians 4:14-16 NLT) God is using your experiences to hone and sharpen you for His glory. As you cooperate with His grace, He will transform your character. You will grow in love and maturity through the work of the Holy Spirit in your heart, as you cooperate with Him, especially during times of suffering and difficulty.
Conclusion
- Central Idea: “Your unique brokenness journey is your platform for ministry.”
- Don’t be ashamed of your brokenness. God can heal and will use YOU for His glory.
- From now on, use your brokenness journey as your platform for ministry to glorify God together with others!
