No Worries
Introduction
The rising number of COVID-19 cases is making a lot of people anxious. There’s a very good chance you are one of them. Although COVID-19 is definitely a cause for concern, this is just one of the many things that we worry about. There are a lot of uncertainties that can make us worry and this can distract us away from God and bring unrest to our souls. But God has promised to give us peace during times of uncertainty. However, we need to make faith decisions so we can experience the peace that only God can give. What are these faith decisions? (Philippians 4:4-7)
Three Faith Decisions to Experience Peace During Uncertainties
1. Choose joy. (Phil 4:4) – The first faith decision to experience peace during uncertainties is to choose joy in the Lord. Our reason for our joy is not because everything is right but because we have God and He cares for us. It’s when we begin to doubt this truth that we begin to get worried and distracted. But the more we know God intimately and the more we meditate on His promises for us, we can choose joy over worries and uncertainties by faith!
2. Stay calm. (Phil 4:5) – The second faith decision is to stay calm. When there are uncertainties, we tend to be doomsday thinkers and that causes us to panic. But when we just calm ourselves and assess our situations, we’ll find that we have just magnified our situations and it is less serious than we have imagined. But even if the situation is serious, staying calm can give us the needed clarity and right perspective on the situation.
3. Surrender control (Phil 4:6) – The last faith decision to experience peace during uncertainties is surrender control. We worry because we are used to thinking everything is in our hands. Though we have our part in dealing with uncertainties, the focus here is the tendency to depend on ourselves. But the truth is not everything is in our control. And the more we cling to our control, the more we’ll worry. Surrendering control to God frees us from worry.
Conclusion
- When worries increase, let God be our peace.
- We should put our confidence in God during uncertainties.
