Jesus, The One Who Reveals
Introduction
Fake news refers to the spread of false information and is a growing concern in today’s society. It can cause harm by misinforming the public, creating social and political divisions, and undermining trust in credible sources. In an era where information is easily accessible through social media, it is crucial to verify the accuracy of information before accepting it as truth. This is especially so when it comes to our faith and practice. We must know and believe the truth about Jesus as revealed in God’s word, the Bible. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Jesus we see in the Scriptures is the same Jesus we can believe in and follow today. As we begin this new series, we want to look at Jesus as the One who reveals invisible realities to us.
Three Invisible Realities Revealed
- He reveals the invisible God the Father to us. (John 1:1-5, 14, 16-18) – Our understanding of God affects our whole being and reality. If we are wrong about Him, our whole lives will be wrong and misdirected. Unfortunately, no one has seen God the Father. That’s why people are lost. But Jesus reveals God the Father to us. Through Him, we can know who God the Father truly is and we can worship Him in spirit and truth.
- He reveals the invisible Kingdom of God to us. (John 3:1-8) – Related to the Person of God the Father, the kingdom of God is very important to understand. If we live outside of His kingdom, we will suffer all kinds of trouble and pain. Satan wants to destroy all those who belong to his kingdom, and they are not even aware of it. But Jesus reveals the truth about the kingdom of God. Through Him, we can enter God’s realm and experience all the spiritual blessings that He alone can give us by His grace.
- He reveals the invisible Spirit of God to us. (John 14:15-21, 25-27) – The key to experiencing all that God has for us in His kingdom is the Holy Spirit. Through Him, we can receive the grace that we need to be reconciled with God, receive a new status as children of God, be transformed, and ultimately enter the new heaven and earth (i.e., the new creation) when Jesus returns at the end of the age. Definitely, we need the Holy Spirit. But we cannot see Him. Thankfully, through faith in Jesus, we can now experience the presence, power, and purpose of God through the Holy Spirit.
