How To Go Back To Jesus
Introduction
People who still have faith but have become lukewarm or discouraged want to know how to go back to Jesus. People who have completely lost their faith don’t think they can ever go back. But everyone needs to know that there is a way to go back if only they are willing to seek and find Jesus again by God’s grace. It’s not an impossibility. Jesus, Himself, is calling them, and us, to go back to Him and walk with Him again by faith. If we would respond to His call, especially during this Easter, we can go back to Jesus again.
Three Lessons
- Seek and find comfort in your personal desolation (Luke 24:1-12). It’s normal for people, even believers, to experience desolation when they go through various kinds of trials. God permits this experience. He would even allow the enemy of our souls (Satan) to tempt us with doubts during such times. But it is not His will for us to languish in these experiences. It is not His will for us to be defeated by our doubts. Instead, He would provide a way for us to find comfort in the midst of our desolation.
- Seek and find faith in Jesus’ resurrection (Luke 24:13-35). It’s not easy to believe in the resurrection. Even the early followers of Christ struggled with it. They couldn’t believe it could happen. He had to guide them slowly until they were able to overcome their doubts. It was only when God opened their eyes that they were able to recognize the truth that He has indeed risen. In the same way, the Lord wants us to seek and find faith in Jesus’ resurrection, not by forcing ourselves to believe it but by allowing God to reveal the truth to us by His grace.
- Seek and find hope in God’s revelation (Luke 24:36-53). The early followers of Christ had the Scriptures. But they failed to find hope and encouragement through God’s revelation in the midst of their sorrow and pain. It was only when Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scriptures that they saw that what had happened had to happen. It was God’s ultimate will that Jesus would die on the cross for the sins of the world. Now, they understood that the word of God is true. From now on, the future is no longer uncertain and fearful. God is sovereign and He will fulfill all His promises. That’s when their hearts were filled with joy!
