God’s Mighty Power
INTRODUCTION
It’s frustrating when we are trying so hard to do God’s will but the results are not what we expect. We want to become good Christians but we end up doing the very things that we don’t want to do. We want to relate well with others in the church but they hurt us instead. Satan attacks us every day with lies but we are unable to resist him. We try to excel in ministry but we continue to fail. What’s wrong? Maybe because we are trusting too much in our own power rather than God’s mighty power.
FOUR AREAS WHERE WE NEED TO TRUST GOD’S MIGHTY POWER
- Spiritual growth and maturity (Ephesians 1:15-23) – We can try so hard to grow and mature in Christ but we cannot do it. We cannot transform ourselves. Only the mighty power of God can do that. We must depend on the Lord, asking Him to transform us by His power. The things that we do (for example, prayer or reading our Bibles, etc.) are simply for the purpose of putting us in a place where we can receive His power and grace for our transformation.
- Love in the Christian community (Ephesians 3:14-21) – Just as we cannot transform ourselves, we also cannot transform others. Only God can transform people so that we can become people of love. Christian community is beautiful but it is not humanly possible. Many have tried but failed. It can only be accomplished by God’s mighty power.
- Overcoming the unseen enemy (Ephesians 6:10-18) – Satan is powerful and we cannot defeat him by our own limited power. Doing so will surely result in failure and frustration. Only God’s mighty power can overcome Satan. All the resources we need to fight him and defeat him comes from God. That’s why we must put on the full armor of God.
- Success in ministry (Ephesians 6:19-20) – Trying to serve God or do ministry by our own power will surely result in failure. When we depend on ourselves, the results will only be according to what we can produce. But when we depend on God, the results will be according to God’s mighty power. With Him, nothing is impossible.
CONCLUSION
- Only God’s Mighty Power can give us Real Victory.
- Trying to accomplish what only God’s mighty power can do leads to constant failure and frustration.
- We must learn to rely on God’s mighty power especially in those areas where we are powerless to accomplish anything.
